About

I am a Pharmacist and a Medicinal Chemist with an academic background in Epigenetic drug Discovery and Biological sciences having trained at University of East Anglia (UEA) under supervision of Prof. Ganesan and as a Research scientist at Centre de recherche en Cancerologie de Marseille (CRCM), under supervision of Prof. Juan Iovanna.

My Research focuses on understanding the signalling pathways leading to fibrosis and particularly on protein called Nuclear Protein 1. NUPR1 is a stress response protein overexpressed upon cell injury in virtually all organs including the liver. Despite NUPR1's well-established role in the response to cell stress, the molecular and structural machineries triggered by NUPR1 activation remain largely debated. The work I am conducting in the Fibrosis research group aims to uncover the roles of NUPR1 in the context of liver injury and particularly in the activation of Hepatic Stellate Cells, which is the most important event in the initiation of the fibrotic process.

My other research projects involve the delineation of epigenetic signalling pathways that trigger fibrogenesis and uncover the molecular controls that can be targeted with drugs.

All these research effort have the final goal to tackle fibrosis with new pharmacological approaches.
