About
I studied for both my BSc in Biomedical Science and MSc in Biotechnology at Northumbria University from 2012-2016. I thoroughly enjoyed the research elements in my MSc, studying cell migration and proliferation in breast cancer, and decided to pursue a career in academic science. I have worked for Newcastle University as a research technician in the Drug Discovery group at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research and then as a Genetic Technologist for the NHS Genetics Service at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust. My main interests are in drug development and preclinical modelling.
This led me to apply to a PhD position at the Newcastle Fibrosis Research Group with Professor Fiona Oakley. This project aims to develop a preclinical assay platform which will identify any toxicological effects new potential drugs will have on the liver, heart and kidney.
