About
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2018 with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science. During my undergrad degree I took part in a research project titled ‘Characterisation of baseline Anti-Mitochondrial Antibodies in patients with Primary Biliary Cholangitis undergoing a B-cell depletion trial.’ This strengthened my interest in immunology and gave me a plethora of experience in lab techniques.
I decided to build upon this work and in September 2018 started my master of Research (MRes) in Immunobiology. Under the supervision of Dr Lee Borthwick, I have begun my master’s research project that focusses on the use of precision cut lung slices to investigate the effects of COMP and SPARC in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This research will supplement Will Reilly’s PhD work which aims to better understand the aetiology and mechanisms behind idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
