Iron

Iron is the second most found metal in the Earth's crust and it is an essential element in human nutrition. Iron contamination can occur due to the use of iron coagulants or the corrosion of outdated pipes.

WHO Limit 

There is no health-based guideline for iron is proposed. The taste and appearance of drinking water will be affected by concentrations below 2mg/l

Symptoms of Iron Contamination 

The levels of iron likely to be observed in drinking water will not provide a threat to human health, however; taste and appearance of drinking water will be affected. The average lethal dose of iron is between 200-250mg per kg of body weight, although death has occurred after consuming doses as low as 40mg per kg of body weight.
