Microbial contamination of drinking water is a major source of illness in developing countries; this is directly linked to poor water quality, sanitation and hygiene. Pathogens are predominantly contaminating water through faecal origin.

Symptoms of Faecal Contamination

Some symptoms associated with faecal contamination include vomiting and diarrhoea. Pathogens associated with faecal contamination such as E coli, hepatitis and salmonella can cause severe health effects.
