Fluoride
Fluorine is a common element; however, it does not occur in its elemental state in nature due to its high reactivity. In small measures, fluoride can have a positive effect on dental health by protecting against dental caries. However, when the concentration is high, fluoride can harm teeth and bones.
WHO Limit
1.5 mg/l
Symptoms of Fluoride Contamination:
When concentrations are above 1.5mg/l, it can cause dental fluorosis, and when concentrations exceed 6mg/day there is evidence of increased risk of effects on the skeleton.
Treatment Methods:
- Activated alumina
- Granular activated carbon
