Copper

Copper is a transition metal and is widely used across various industries. Copper is an essential nutrient but also a drinking-water contaminant.

Symptoms of Copper Contamination: 

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Fatal in large doses - cases have been reported between 4-400mg per kg of body weight

Treatment Methods: 

Copper is not removed from water by conventional treatment methods; however, copper is not normally found in raw water. Contamination tends to be from corrosion of copper plumbing, therefore; to control, remove source of contamination of water .
