Applicant support

We aim to make sure everyone has the opportunity to succeed in gaining a ONE Planet studentship, and we are here to guide you through the process.

Everyone is welcome to attend but we are particularly looking to support applicants from the following key areas:

  • UK applicants who are Black, Chinese, Asian, Arabic, or of another non-white ethnicity
  • Graduates who are from the first generation in their family to go to university
  • Applicants who have caring responsibilities

During our recruitment period (November - January) we host a series of applicant webinars that are aimed at guiding you through our application process.

These webinars will include information on:

  • The ONE Planet DTP; including our programme, how to apply, and general advice on how to prepare your application
  • An opportunity to meet our PhD researchers - hear about their experiences and find out how to access our mentor scheme
  • Your questions

We also host interview webinars to help provide information on what to expect, and we have our PhD researchers present to provide hints and tips, and answer your questions. These take place in February.

More details will be posted when we open our next recruitment round in November 2023.

Applicant mentors

Would you like 1-1 help with your application preparation, or to speak to someone who has successfully been through our application process? Then we are able to help.

Please find a list of our ONE Planet PhD Researchers at the end of our How to apply pages. They are happy to be contacted by you directly. Please make contact and arrange to discuss any questions that you have.

If your query is related to the studentship award, the application system, or any general queries please contact oneplanet@ncl.ac.uk directly.
