About me (research and interests): My undergraduate degree was in Chemical Engineering, which I studied at The University of Sheffield, but now my research falls under the EOPS (Earth, Ocean, and Planetary Sciences) group. I am currently looking into the mechanisms behind Nitrogen pollution from palm oil plantations into rivers, in Malaysian Borneo. Nitrogen rich fertilisers are used to promote palm oil tree growth, but when Nitrogen enters rivers, it causes eutrophication and damages ecosystems. Therefore, if agricultural processes can be modified to mitigate this pollution, it will be beneficial for the environment and for the local people who use the fish from these rivers as their main source of protein.

Outside of work I am getting to know Newcastle and starting to enjoy aspects of the city such as the proximity to the coast and events in my area like markets, and the community orchard and library.
