The Catalogue of Romano-British Ironwork in the Museum of Antiquities is now online
During the early 1970s Dr (now Prof) William Manning undertook to complete a catalogue of the Romano-British ironwork held in the collections of the Museum of Antiquities of Newcastle University and the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne (now the Great North Museum). The catalogue was published in 1976 and soon became an indispensable reference work. CIAS are pleased to announce that Prof Manning has agreed that the catalogue can be made available as a free download. We’re extremely grateful to Prof Manning and we hope that this catalogue to an important collection of Roman iron objects continues to serve as a reference work for students, researchers and finds specialists.
The Catalogue of Romano-British Ironwork in the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne. W. H. Manning, with drawings by M. M. Hurrell (1976). Newcastle, The University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. To view and download the catalogue please check the Resources page of this website.
