Grants

The Materiality, Artefacts and Technologies in Culture and History (MATCH) Faculty Research Group has a series of small grants to award in 2023.

MATCH awards small grants to support artefact and material culture research initiatives including travel, fieldwork, analytical services and equipment, the organisation of conferences and seminars, and the purchase/hiring of research resources. Awards do not normally exceed £150 in value. Whilst all MATCH members can apply for a grant, priority will be given to research students and early career researchers who do not have alternative sources of funding.

Have a look on the MATCH website to see how the fund has been awarded previously https://research.ncl.ac.uk/match/newsandevents/

To be considered for a grant, applicants should write a concise case for support (not exceeding a single A4 page) explaining why they seek the grant, how the proposed activity furthers the aims of MATCH, and how the money will be spent. They must also provide financial details and quotations, if appropriate.

Applications can be emailed to:

  bridget.Kennedy@ncl.ac.uk and Camilla.Bertini@newcastle.ac.uk

by 30th March 2023 and if awarded the money must be committed by July 2023.

Applications will be considered by the MATCH Steering Committee.

Retrospective applications will not be considered.

Grant holders will be requested to write a brief paragraph for the website (and provide a photograph, if possible) explaining how the money has been spent.
