Set in stone? Rediscovering the Lufton villa: excavations in 2016, by James Gerrard and Andrew Agate
The Roman Villa at Lufton is well known to scholars of Roman Britain. Newcastle University's recent excavations have turned previous interpretations of this famous structure on their head. New evidence of earlier and later building phases shed new light on the site in the late Roman period and disprove notions that the structure is a single phase corridor villa of fourth-century date.
