Long-term vision
The future of Intake24
The long-term vision for Intake24 is to become a globally accessible platform for dietary assessment, enabling countries to collect high-quality dietary intake data quickly, affordably and consistently. Rather than each country developing its own system from scratch, Intake24 aims to provide a shared, adaptable infrastructure that can be localised to different languages, cultures and food environments.
A key part of the future vision is the creation of an Open Nutrition Network, bringing together researchers, governments, universities and public health organisations to share expertise, training and resources. This network will support ongoing development of Intake24 beyond the current project and promote South-South collaboration, helping countries learn from one another's experiences Open Nutrition Network
Over time, the partnership aims to support:
- National nutrition and dietary surveys
- Nutrition surveillance systems
- Research into malnutrition and non-communicable diseases
- Evaluation of nutrition interventions and policies
- Training of the next generation of nutrition researchers and health professionals
Ultimately, the ambition is that Intake24 becomes the go-to digital dietary assessment platform for low- and middle-income countries, providing the high-quality evidence needed to design effective nutrition policies, monitor population health and tackle the growing burden of diet-related disease worldwide.
