Intake24 Global

Developing in-country capacity to collect low-cost, high quality, granulated data on individual dietary intake across Africa and Asia.

Funders: MRC Global Partnership grant

This partnership aims to accelerate regional and in‑country capacity in dietary assessment across Africa and Asia. Working collaboratively, teams in South Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand will adapt Intake24—an established, open‑source, online 24‑hour dietary recall system—to their local contexts.

Supported by partners in the UK, Malaysia, Australia, and an external expert panel, the network will develop a vibrant community of practice to share knowledge, resources, and experience in localising Intake24. Through this collaboration, we are building a well‑connected group of nutrition researchers across the Global South equipped with feasible, cost‑effective tools to collect high‑quality dietary data relevant to public health priorities in LMICs.

All partner teams will join the Intake24 Open Nutrition Network, which already includes members from the UK, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Bangladesh.
