TORG with the Geomatics database developers developed an integrated platform using data from pervasive sensors, legacy system sensors, meteorological conditions and UTMC operating in Medway. This in order to demonstrate facilities that deliver air quality monitoring integrated with other ITS to provide traffic operators with the tools for management of the traffic network in real-time and deliver data for other stakeholders to support further research, identify trends and inform and support the development of long term transport strategies and planning. The integrated system using a combination of environmental data with others including, for example, journey time information, traffic flow, cruise speed and occupancy information, will predict or detect network (congestion/pollution) occurrences and thus to gain a richer understanding of the cause of pollution.
