Distillation

Distillation removes most contaminants from drinking-water and can be used at the household level. This method can be expensive due to the cost of fuel for heating; the volume of water produced is also low.

How to use:

  • Two vessels are required, one for contaminated water and one for fresh
  • The vessels need to be attached via a tube or chamber, which should ideally be cooled
  • Heat the first vessel and allow water vapour to rise, cool and collect in the second vessel‌
