The project has also set up a Project Monitoring and Advisory Committee (ProMAC) which  comprise professionals from international organisations, senior policy-makers from Ministries of Health in some of the partner countries, and senior NGO professionals.

ProMAC meets every year. It is serviced by the Project Management Office at Newcastle. Its main functions are:

• to build into the project a forum for regular exchanges between academics and policy makers, both in international organisations and in the Mediterranean region, and to facilitate the widening of such academic-policy maker dialogue within partner countries
• to review progress and progress reports
• to ensure that the project adheres to high ethical standards, including in its employment of project staff
• to advise and assist with plans for dissemination and evaluation
