Radiocarbon dating

New methods for radiocarbon dating - Understanding taphonomy is one part of the puzzle. A major strand of this research is developing a compound specific radiocabn daytig method for human faecal lipids. BRAMS is a new state-of-the-art radiocarbon dating facility at the University of Bristol. The facility is home to one of a new generation of ultra-compact AMS instruments, a MICADAS accelerator mass spectrometer, a high-precision, high throughput instrument that allows radiocarbon dates to be measured on very small samples. The team are currently working on adapting methods for pottery lipid dating for the analysis of residues from coprolites.
