Mapping the Evidence

In January 2022 we completed a mapping review of the current literature published on the effects of changes to services for disabled children in the UK and abroad, to bring all the current evidence together. The protocol for the review is published on the Open Science Framework

The review has been published in Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology: https://doi.org/10.1111/dmcn.15503

You can find our interactive map of evidence here.

Public and Patient Involvement:‌‌‌

In April 2022 we ran two workshops with two of our parent carer advisory groups to share the findings from our mapping review and to consult with them about the gaps in the research. The research team found the discussions extremely helpful and productive. It was also really great to hear how parent carers found taking part in the groups.

“When I was first asked to take part in this study, I was a little worried – mainly because I wasn’t sure what I could share that could make a difference. The research team were so kind and supportive that once I got going it was easy to see how my views were helping to make a difference.”

“This approach really helped me to see how I could genuinely support this process. It made me feel as though I could influence decision makers at a policy level.”
