Agreeing the way forward

In November 2022 – January 2023, we ran a national survey of parent-carers, young people and health, education and social care professionals to find out their views on draft recommendations for the delivery of services to disabled children in times of emergency. This was a two-round Delphi survey, where people rated the importance of the recommendations we had drafted from the study.  We aimed to find consensus across stakeholder groups on how critical the recommendations were for a future emergency.

In March 2023 we ran a consensus meeting with 6 professionals and 7 parent carers to share the survey findings and ratify any recommendations that did not meet consensus. Discussions from this meeting have helped finalise a list of recommendations for disabled children’s services in a future emergency.
