Dr Lucy Eland and PhD student James Skelton from the Synthetic Biology team took part in the Hancock museums Science Uncovered event in autumn 2016. Armed with a miniature flushing toilet and lots of enthusiasm, they spent the evening talking to museum visitors about the fate of synthetic hormone compounds in sewage treatment systems and the environment. Research carried out by both the NUFEB projects synthetic biology team and by Russell Davenport's team where promoted. The event was very enjoyable and feedback from the public was excellent.
