Molecular Microbial Ecology Group meeting

Newcastle University hosted the annual Molecular Microbial Ecology Group meeting in January, 2017. A series of excellent talks were presented by early career researchers, covering a broad range of microbial ecology topics from wood eating fish to the bioremediation of oil contaminated soils. NUFEB was represented at the group meeting by Russell Davenport, Lucy Eland (poster) and Martin Sim, who presented his work on the use of CRISPR gene editing techniques for genetic bioaugmentation of microbial communities. The talk was very well recieved and led to many interesting discussions about the future direction of molecular microbial ecology.
