January's NUFEB Science Talk - Prof Jim Harris

Professor Jim Harris joined us from Cranfield University to talk about diversity, ecological function and resilience.

His main focus was on the work he has been doing looking at the complexity of an environment and how it effects the community of microbes that grow there, incluing a new project using 3D printing to make environments with varying complexity. The potential relationship between complexity and resilience of the community was considered, as well as much discussion with the NUFEB team about what we mean by resilience.
