MoSMed 2022 Induction

On Tuesday 12^th October we welcomed Cohort 4 for the 2022 MoSMed Induction. Students from Newcastle and Durham universities came together for a great day with talks from our Director, Prof Mike Waring, and Co-Director, Prof Ehmke Pohl, about the CDT programme and all the exciting opportunities that we have in store! Co-Director and EDI lead, Prof Simi Ali, also delivered an excellent presentation on the important of Equality, Diversity of Inclusion, and the measures we have taken to embed this in CDT activities.

Along with fun icebreaker activities, the day was capped off with a welcome from Laura Filipe from Cohort 1, our new Cohort Researcher Committee Chair, on how CDT students can take an active role across a number of different representative roles. We look forward to seeing our new Cohort stepping up to put their stamp on CDT social, EDI, communication and outreach activities, as well as our yearly conference.

At the end of the day supervisors and students from across Cohorts 1-4 warmly joined us for coffee, cake and conversation, followed up by a successful pub visit organised by Social Rep Jake Odger.

We look forward to another great year of research, training and a cross-institutional community spirit. We cannot wait to see the impact of our largest cohort yet on the MoSMed research community. Welcome Cohort 4!
