The STFC Newton Agri-Tech Project at Newcastle: Exploring the potential for precision nutrient management in China

The Newton fund is an initative intended to strengthen research and innovation partnerships between the UK and developing nations in order to develop science and technology partnerships that promote the economic development and welfare in the partner countries.  The STFC Newton Agri-Tech Fund is a £12M initiative to use the UK's expertise in remote sensing and modelling in the area of agricultural technology (agri-tech) to work with and aid the Chinese farming community.

This STFC Newton Agri-Tech project at Newcastle is entitled "Exploring the potential for precision nutrient management in China" and aims to provide a framework for an integrated solution that helps family-owned farms to better manage nutrient inputs without affecting the quantity or quality of production. ‎

Six farms were chosen as experimental sites in this Agri-Tech project: one in Henan Province, three in Inner Mongolia and two in Heilongjiang Province.
