This week John Fitzgerald and Claire Ingram from the CPLab attended Dynamo, the NorthEast's premier IT showcase. Dynamo attracts industrial practitioners, academics, business leaders and policy makers interested in technology from all around the North East, and this year Dynamo's main showcase event #Dynamo15 was hosted at Sunderland University.
The day was packed with panel discussions, plenary speeches from business leaders and technologists, and breakout sessions focussing on specialist topics. John Fitzgerald from the CPLab provided an introduction to the Lab and future plans for the Urban Sciences Building during a breakout session focussing on "Better wellbeing, better performance: smart cities", alongside Tom Baker from BT. John also participated in a well-attended plenary panel session in the afternoon (pictured), alongside Bob Paton from the NorthEast LEP, Giselle Stewart of Ubisoft, Stuart Lynn of Sage, Charlie Hoult of Dynamo and Neil Heming of SAP. The panel was chaired by Steph McGovern from the BBC and attracted a large and very engaged audience.
Key messages from the conference celebrated the state of the digital sector in the North East and the region's culture of entrepreneurship as well as focussing on the strategies needed to ensure that this sector continues to grow.
