About our Project

'Chemsex in Newcastle' is a collaborative social research project focuses on the Chemsex scene in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to address a gap in knowledge and understanding, specifically around (drug) prevalence, and the people and places that make up the scene.

The project will generate robust and clearly focused experiential and statistical data to build a picture of Chemsex in Newcastle from the perspectives of the people involved. Project data will be produced in collaboration with Newcastle City Council, services and the city’s LGBTQ+ community.

The findings will be used to inform outreach materials and activities for people in the Chemsex scene who are currently not in touch with services (council, charities), and who may need support and information, including around drug harm reduction, sexual health, and youth exploitation.
