Modules 1 & 2

Module 1, Policy, Plans and Frameworks

Module 1 will provide a framework for those unfamiliar with Green Infrastructure (GI) that can be used in future project development to link health, wellbeing and the natural environment. It will illustrate GI interventions, based on connectivity, multifunctionality, planning and policy principles and consider national guidance.

A series of three mini-talks will introduce you to the subject of Green Infrastructure, how it relates to health and well-being, and then look at three case studies: Green Gym / Green Space Scotland / The Mersey Forest Project. Each mini talk will be followed by a short discussion giving you the opportunity to really understand the subject.

Module 2, Multicriteria Tools for Analysis and Evaluation

Module 2 will facilitate analysis/evaluation of urban green infrastructure initiatives, enhance transferability of locally-relevant project findings to broader contexts, and evidence benefits in multiple contexts. It will critically consider the available options for the analysis and evaluation of urban green space/GI initiatives across a project’s lifespan, from the initial design stage through to post-completion.

Another series of mini talks will explain what a framework is and why it should be used before moving on to look at multicriteria indicators and protocols. You will learn what multicriteria indicators are, why they are important, how they are used, and how to select the right ones for your project. An activity session will allow you to explore how different protocols and indicators are applied to a project and will give you the opportuntiy to review and critique an exisiting protocol.
