Dr Luiza Sarayed-Din

Luiza Farnese Sarayed-Din holds a PhD in Urban Planning (Sustainable Development) from University of Malaya (UM-2017); MSc in Production Engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-2009); MBA in Strategic Management from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG-2008) and bachelor degree in Social Communication (Public Relations) from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG-2005). While in Brazil, she specialized in informality having published the book ‘A Ponte do Rio’ (2009) about the 1st Urban Planning of Rocinha (one of the biggest favelas in Brazil). With 8 years of experience in Orient countries such as Oman (Middle East), Malaysia and Singapore (Southeast Asia), her research focus is on Global south studies, social innovation and urban studies. Currently based in Brazil, she is a Postdoctoral researcher at Sustainable Consumption, Middle Classes and Agri-food Ethics in the Global South research.

Luiza is a Research Associate on the Brazil team.
