- Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach
My background is very broadly in developing communities within educational settings. I completed my PhD at the University in East London in 2023, which used a militant research methodology to examine political participation within the Corbyn and post-Corbyn movement. I have organised with several grassroots groups, including a long-standing engagement with Feminise Politics Now! [hyperlink: https://feminisepoliticsnow.org/]. I’ve also worked with The World Transformed: [https://theworldtransformed.org/] and the #SaveUEL campaign. I joined Newcastle University in 2021, working in the Methods Hub: https://research.ncl.ac.uk/methodshub/, where I am still a Co-Lead.
I work as a Research Associate on the Reimagining Leadership project’s methodology, which is Participatory Action Research (PAR). We have recruited a brilliant group of colleagues from the university’s staff networks and trade unions to join our PAR group and I’m excited about the ideas that are emerging.
I bring experience of working collaboratively and some (cautious) enthusiasm that the research culture agenda could create meaningful change.
