You said that books primarily came from the library?

Yes. Well, we bought secondhand books. I buy quite a lot of books secondhand. I don’t know – I think as a child we used to go … because you were taken to the library, as I suppose you are now, from school, well, schools have libraries, but we were taken, and you got into the habit of going. And I’ve kept going, you know, I have pals who are also sort of semi intelligent and do like to read as well, and, well they all went to grammar school so I’ve got a chip on my shoulder! No, not at all. But I think they were guided more than I was, which maybe in the end that wasn’t such a good thing, because by definition if you’re guided then it’s other people’s prejudices and opinions, whereas having blundered around I’ve come across some pretty good things.
