Blueboat
The BlueBoat 120 is an affordable, highly configurable unmanned surface vessel (USV) developed by Blue Robotics to provide easy access to autonomous surface platforms for hydrographic survey, water‑quality monitoring, and aquatic robotics development. Its twin‑hull catamaran design houses all electronics, power systems, and wiring internally, leaving a large open payload area between the hulls for sonar, sensors, cameras, and custom instrumentation. The hull geometry is specifically shaped to shed weeds and debris, enabling reliable operation in lakes, rivers, shallow coastal zones, and even plastic‑polluted waters.
Powered by electric propulsion with weedless M200 motors, the BlueBoat offers exceptional endurance: up to 62 hours with eight batteries, or indefinite operation with user‑equipped solar panels. A long‑range 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi link provides up to 1 km control range, with future support for 4G LTE and Iridium satellite communications. The platform includes a Navigator flight controller, GNSS/GPS, and ArduRover firmware, enabling autonomous waypoint navigation, loitering, geo‑fencing, return‑to‑home, and manual joystick control.
With a 15 kg payload capacity, multiple mounting points, dry internal bays, and open‑source BlueOS software, the BlueBoat is designed for rapid integration of hydrographic sensors, multibeam or single‑beam echosounders, water‑quality sondes, laser scanners, and other research or industrial payloads. It arrives nearly fully assembled, requiring minimal setup before deployment.
