"How We Made a New Art on Old Ground": Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Language, Migration and Identity

This conference brings together an international, interdisciplinary group of scholars in a well-respected research library which is right in the heart of a national museum housing material culture relating to Irish-American emigration.

The format combines short talks with longer periods of discussion, to encourage face-to-face debate of issues relating to the key themes of identity, migration, language and the conception of space.

Speakers: Karen Corrigan (NCL), Gerard Corsane (NCL), Johanne Devlin-Trew (Ulster, MCMS), Patrick Fitzgerald (MCMS), Mary Gilmartin (NUI Maynooth), Jeffrey Kallen (Trinity College Dublin), Lee Komito (UCD), Brian Lambkin (MCMS), Stephen Levey (Ottawa), Katherine Lloyd (NCL), Philip McDermott (Ulster), Bettina Migge (UCD), Lesa Ní Mhunghaile (NUI Galway), Vera Regan (UCD), Erik Schleef (Manchester), Antonella Sorace (Edinburgh), Jennifer Thorburn (NCL).

Attendance is free. For catering purposes, if you plan to attend, please email NI.language.migration@ncl.ac.uk by 30th Sept.
