The NE SLT Research Network Symposium July 2021 Clinical research: Influencing policy and practice
In 2021 we were supported by RCSLT to put our Symposium online. We are very grateful for their support. Our theme this year was Clinical research: Influencing policy and practice.
The day opened with a welcome from James Faraday, Chair of the NE SLT Research Network.
Our keynote talks were delivered by Professor Cristina McKean (Professor of Child Language Development and Disorders Newcastle University) How to Plan for Impact and Derek Munn (RCSLT Director of Policy and Public Affairs) The Use of Research in Influencing and Shaping Policy.
Amit Kulkarni (RCSLT Head of Research and Outcomes) and Katie Chadd (RCSLT Research Manager) presented the SLT research practitioner framework roadmap.
Dr Helen Stringer (Head of Speech and Language Sciences, Newcastle University) delivered an interactive workshop on writing abstracts.
Dr Sean Pert (Deputy Chair RCSLT Board of Trustees; Senior Clinical Lecturer University of Manchester and Consultant SLT Indigo Gender Service) Helped reflect on the content and our future pathway in research.
Nine SLTs from the North East presented their research in three parallel sessions.
