North East SLT Research Network

The North East SLT Research Network is the first specialist support group for SLTs engaging in research in the UK, established nearly two decades ago. It is affiliated to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and has close links with Speech and Language Sciences at Newcastle University. Its aim is to engage SLTs at all levels of the research continuum, from research-conscious to research-active.

The Research Network organises annual events to promote and support research activity amongst SLTs in the North East. These are the Symposium and the Research Update Meeting, which alternate each year. The Symposium is an opportunity for SLTs to present research in process or completed. The Research Update Meeting provides practical training and workshops on all aspects of research, from development ideas to writing for publication.

The Research Network links with other SLT Clinical Excellence Networks in the North East to form the RCSLT North East Regional Hub, to support evidence-based interventions in all areas of speech and language therapy, as well as the conduct of research in practice. Our Constitution is in the AGM section.
