Abstracts

Call for abstracts is now open!

We are now accepting abstracts for oral, poster and workshop presentations for this conference.  Closing date for submissions is Tuesday 31st July.  Reviewer decisions will be available mid-August.

Conference Themes

Rather than have pre-set themes for the conference we will shape the thematic structure of the in-conference parallel oral sessions and poster presentations around the topics covered within submitted abstracts.  We feel this will better reflect the current landscape of patient and public involvement (PPI) in research at an international level, and resonate more closely with a range of PPI experience, academic and philosophical interests, and diversity in approaches to the practice and evaluation of PPI in research

Example topics

We anticipate that abstracts are likely to fall into one of the general areas noted below, but we are open to other suggestions:

  • PPI models or methods
  • Barriers and facilitators
  • Evaluations and impact of PPI – both methods of and results of evaluation
  • Reflections on experience of PPI
  • Reflections on evaluation of PPI in research
  • Innovation in PPI
  • Diversity in PPI
  • Infrastructure that enables/inhibits PPI
  • Support and training for PPI
  • Topics not included in this list

Submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation:

Oral presentations will be 15 minutes in length (10+5 for questions) and can include audio/visual content. Presentations can be delivered by one or more presenters but must adhere to the time limits.

To submit your presentation abstract, download and complete the Oral and Poster Abstract Template form ‌‌

Submit a workshop proposal:

Applications are open for workshop proposals. These should be hands-on sessions where conference delegates have the opportunity to participate in something novel, to gain new insights about PPI or to learn new skills to support their PPI practice and/or experience.

Workshops can be led by groups or single facilitators, and should be designed to fit either a 45 or 60 minute time slot.

The word limit for workshop abstracts is 500 words, excluding the title, authors’ names and sub-headings.

Send your completed abstract and proposal forms to evalppi.conf@ncl.ac.uk  by Tuesday 31st July 2018 adding the title of your presentation and either ‘oral’, ‘poster’ or ‘workshop’ to the subject line.  Lead authors on submitted contributions will be notified about reviewer decisions by mid-August.
