PhD Studentship in the manoeuvring-structural performance of a novel ship propeller-rudder system (Application Code: MarineZero1.1)

The project aims to characterise the flow conditions and subsequent structural response during the manoeuvring of a ship fitted with a novel propeller-rudder technology system that improves propulsive efficiency and contributes to decarbonising future shipping.

Low fidelity sensing to improve the performance of specialist workboats in off design situations (Application Code: MarineZero1.2)

The project will investigate the use of low fidelity sensing devices that can be used to improve the performance and safety of specialist workboat situations.

Cavitation, noise, vibration and hydrodynamic characteristics of highly skewed tidal turbine rotor blades (Application Code: MarineZero1.3)

This research is to advance the knowledge and understanding on the noise, vibration, cavitation on a stainless-steel rotor 3D printed turbine rotor.
