Tom Gentry is the Joint Head of Health Influencing at Age UK and has been with the charity since 2009. Tom co-leads Age UK’s influencing work on health, wellbeing, the NHS, and social care with a particular focus on policy. The Health Influencing team seeks to develop and promote service approaches that reflect the needs and aspirations of older people. These include ongoing programmes of work on health inequalities; the impact of living with frailty and multi-morbidity in later life; integrating health and social care services; and mental health. Before joining Age UK, Tom has worked in policy and campaigns for a national health charity; as a civil servant; in the Houses of Parliament supporting senior MPs; and has further experience in local government and the NHS.
