Avan Sayer is Director of the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre and Professor of Geriatric Medicine at Newcastle University. Her research takes a life course approach to understanding the ageing syndromes of sarcopenia, frailty and multimorbidity, and involves the translation of findings into new approaches to diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
