Dr Claire Abley
Dr Clare Abley is Nurse Consultant for vulnerable older adults at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University. Her interests include the care of older people with both physical and mental health problems and she currently holds an NIHR Clinical Lectureship to improve general hospital care of older people with cognitive impairment (delirium and / or dementia). The patient experience is central to this work. In her role as nurse consultant she chairs the Trust Dementia Care Steering Group and led on the development of a Trust Dementia Care Strategy 2015-2020. She also manages the Trust Dementia Care Team.
