Global Partnership Workshop, Prato Italy, 16-20th November 2026
We are pleased to announce the Intake24 Global Partnership Workshop which will bring together researchers and nutrition professionals from across fifteen countries to advance the development of Intake24. Intake24 is an open-source dietary assessment platform designed to allow cost-effective, robust individual level dietary data at scale. It is used internationally in national dietary surveillance and nutrition research.
Hosted in Prato, Italy, this week-long workshop will unite the MRC global partnership teams from Australia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand, Uganda, United Kingdom and Vietnam, with invited participants from Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Japan and Portugal, representing a truly global collaboration in dietary assessment innovation.
Over the course of the week, delegates will share their localisation experiences, including the challenges encountered in adapting Intake24 for diverse food cultures and populations. The Intake24 team will also showcase exciting new developments, including a clinical interface co-designed with dietitians, to deliver personalised, condition-specific dietary advice, and the Open Nutrition Network, a platform for sharing open-source dietary tools and resources including food photographs, food lists and food composition data, and a forum for exchanging expertise on the challenges of dietary assessment.
The programme will combine presentations with hands-on practical training in food photography, food density measurement, recipe calculations and co-design methods. Collaborative brainstorming sessions will explore key topics including governance, system sustainability, user-testing and portion size challenges such as eating from a shared plate.
