Dr Joanne McGrath, from Durham University will present Using timelines in qualitative research:

Timelines are one example of a visual method which can be used to support qualitative research. They can be particularly helpful in research with marginalised populations due to centring participants voices and experiences and addressing inherent power imbalances, ultimately enhancing the quality of data collection. Drawing on practical examples of using timelines in frontline practice and in my PhD research focusing on the experiences of women with experiences of multiple exclusion homelessness I will describe how researcher and participant jointly “made sense” of hidden and less often heard life stories.

Joanne’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A and open discussion. Please note that you can use the chat function in Teams to submit questions as well as using the “rise a hand” function to ask questions verbally.

Date and time: Friday the 14th of November, 12:00-13:30
