Objectives

The project’s research objectives are:

1) To assess the degree to which the education and training pathways of young people respond to sectoral and occupational change;
2) To gain a better understanding of how local/regional ‘skills ecosystems’ in England function to align post-16 education and training provision with existing or future perceived skills demands, and the obstacles faced in achieving such alignment;
3) To better understand young people’s employment and training aspirations and decisions, and the extent to which their knowledge of local economic opportunities shape these (or not);
4) To develop policy and practice recommendations for aligning skill formation with current or projected skills demands in a way that supports the growth of new green sectors and enables young people to benefit from new employment opportunities.
