Richard Davy

Magdalen College, Oxford:

  • ?scholar, 1483-
  • Informator Choristarum, 1490-2 (when he composed E30 in the space of one day)

His subsequent career took him either to Devon or to Northamptonshire:

  • either 1493-4: chaplain, Ashburton church (John Harper); vicar choral, Exeter Cathedral, 1494-1506- (Nicholas Orme); vicar of Broadhembury, Devon, d. 1521.
  • or 1512-38: singing man, Fotheringhay College (David Skinner), d. 1538.

Like those of William Cornysh (E19) and Robert Fayrfax (E75), Davy's compositions were widely disseminated, particularly E30.
