This project wants to identify what is important about dental care, and how to incorporate this into NHS dentistry, from the perspectives of the general public, NHS dental patients and dental professionals. 

Dentistry in England is rapidly adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic and this offers a unique opportunity to discuss what is essential about dentistry, what is desirable, and the objectives of NHS dentistry. This is particularly important to understand as services resume and new ways of delivering care are being considered in relation to dental contract reform.

The DEPEND project considers both what the NHS currently offers, and what the national dental health service could offer whilst accounting for the preferences of taxpayers, patients and dental practitioners. 

This information is critical to making sure NHS dentistry continues to provide suitable care for patients whilst making sure it is sustainable for dental practices.
