Hardcore Journey (print and audio, 2011)

Andy Abbott presents two pieces of work from his 'A Serious Waste of Time' exhibition. The video and print Homeward Unbound re-imagines a regular cycle ride along a stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool canal as a journey back to the artist’s childhood home in the Highlands of Scotland. Hardcore Journey traces a similar journey but performed via connections between bands involved in the DIY hardcore punk scene. Andy’s interests are in the critical potential of play and time outside work, translating and abstracting everyday activities and seeing what emerges from the areas of misfit and cracks that appear in such a process.
