Special Seminar - Ricardo Bastos

  • Venue: William Leech Building, L2.5
  • Start: Fri, 02 Dec 2016 12:00:00 GMT
  • End: Fri, 02 Dec 2016 13:00:00 GMT

Ricardo Bastos will talk about his work, carried out in Francis Barr's lab in Oxford, on "Kinase and phosphatase regulation of the KIF4 microtubule motor protein during cell division".

Ricardo obtained his PhD from Helsinki University, Finland in 2008 under the supervision of Prof Marja Makarow where he worked on the yeast secretory pathway. He then joined the lab of Francis Barr in Oxford to study the spatial and temporal regulation of cytokinesis in mammalian cells where he developed a special interest in the regulation of kinesins by kinases and phosphatases. Ricardo recently joined Hiro Ohkura's lab in Edinburgh to work on female meiosis of Drosophila, focusing on the role that microtubule regulators play in controlling the assembly and behaviour of the meiotic spindle.
