Presented at STAST'2019: Impact of Affect on Privacy Behavioral Intention
At the 9th International Workshop on Socio-Technical Aspects in Security (STAST'2019), we presented our work on the impact of fear and happiness on privacy behavioral intention. This work in human factors of WP4 Usable Security aimed its lens at a range of studies investigating the impact of integral and incidental affects on privacy decision making. We found that both fear as well as happiness conditions caused an increased protection intention compared to a neutral condition, leading to a need to re-think how experiments in this area are designed. Hence, thereby the study also impacts the use of instruments in evidence-based methods.
