Contributing to the Treasury Committee’s Economic Impact of Coronavirus Inquiry
Since 2016, Captured has worked with over 125 micro-businesses (defined as those employing between 0 and 9) in the North East of England.
Between May 9 and May 29, Dr Fiona Whitehurst interviewed 20 of the previous participants of Captured to see how they were navigating the situation caused by the pandemic and they have been providing weekly reflective video ‘diaries’ since then. This has enabled her to gain a nuanced version of the wide range of challenges and potential opportunities they are facing and she submitted written evidence to the second stage of the Treasury Committee’s Economic Impact of Coronavirus Inquiry. Her published evidence can be accessed here .
More details of the Treasury Committee’s Inquiry can be found here and the next stage is looking at the Government’s coronavirus response as it continues to unfold and also with some of the long-term implications of the challenges and opportunities of the “new normal”. The Committee is taking evidence until 18 December 2020 and more details can be found here .
