Pia Schuchert is an ecological modeller and Newcastle with 4.5 years postdoctoral experience. Prior to starting her PhD she worked in managing large financial databases of high commercial importance. Before returning to Newcastle University in 2010 she has been working for more than 3 years for the Falkland Islands Government Fisheries department in managing highly commercial and politically important fish stocks using a variety of techniques such as virtual population analysis and GLMs using geospatial, non-normally distributed data and incomplete datasets. She has also extensive experience in multivariate techniques as well as general neural networks, kohonen maps and Bayesian belief networks.
